LEG ASSIGNMENTS / COURSE SUMMARY
TABLE
USE DISTANCE AND DIFFICULTY TO ASSIGN LEGS
Since 12 team members run three times in rotation, captains assign a group of three legs to each runner. The
Course Summary Table provides information about these leg groups allowing captains to match runners' abilities
to groups of legs.
For example, Runner 1 runs Leg 1 (4.8 miles, Easy), Leg 13 (6 miles, Moderate) and Leg 25 (5.5 miles, Easy) for a
total of 16.3 miles. The Difficulty ranges from 1 (hardest, Runner 10) to 12 (easiest, Runner 1).
MORE DATA
Total mileage for a single runner varies from 13.3 (Runner 6) to 18.1 miles (Runner 10). Runners 5 and 6 climb the
Santa Cruz mountains (Legs 29, 30). Runner 6 runs the Golden Gate Bridge (Leg 18) and the steepest hill (Leg 30).
