Team Dean (Karnazes) for running 262 miles (10 marathons!) solo (75 hrs., 59 min.) for nine-month-old Katalina Thang (waits for a heart lung donor) and 45-year-old Dusty Garman (waited for a heart donor). On October 21, 2004, as Dean began his run from the Nicholas Green Memorial Bell Tower in Bodega Bay, Dusty received his heart. On October 24, as Dean crossed the finish in Santa Cruz, Dusty walked for the first time with his new heart.
3. Drug Runners from Scios Inc. for running for 45-year-old Dusty Garman who received a heart on October 21, 2004 (30 hrs., 7 min.).
4. Organ-ize the Planet (30 hrs., 25 min.) running for kidney recipient Delaney Corbitt.

3. Team Dean (Karnazes) for running 226 miles solo (57 hrs., 53 min.) for six-week-old Valeria Sanchez who waited on life support for a heart donor. Three weeks after Dean's run, Valeria received a heart from a three-day-old baby.

1. Van violation: Mt. Vaca Ridge Runners, Resting Van on Silverado Trail instead of Alternate Van Route.
2. Rude behavior: Full Moon Fever, Drug Runners, Naughty Kitties, Out of Gas: for waking residents on El Camino Del Mar (Leg 19) in the middle of the night.
3. No reflective vest or flashlight at night: Fitnessmoves.
