THE GOAL: $600/TEAM ($50/walker) MINIMUM BY APRIL 10
Raise $1,800 ($150/walker) to receive lunch for the team on the beach at the finish.
Raise $7,200 ($600/walker or donate an organ!) by March 1 to waive the team entry fee.
Many runners, walkers and volunteers have raised more than $50. (Agony of DeFeet raised $1,000 each.) Contact ORU if you would like to walk for a transplant candidate.

GETTING STARTED IS EASY UTILIZING THREE PROVEN FUNDRAISING TECHNIQUES
1. Build a webpage (in under five minutes), tell your team story and send the link to contacts soliciting credit card donations.
2. Send the sample email (below) to contacts soliciting donations by check.
3. Utilize the Charitable Matching Programs offered by most employers. These companies will match the entry fee and/or donations to ORU.

ORU PREFERS SOLICITING FRIENDS, FAMILY AND COWORKERS
1. Contacting others furthers the message about the need for organ donors.
2. Contacts are invited to become runners, walkers, volunteers or organ donors!
3. By informing others of your efforts, participants receive recognition for helping to save lives.
4. Humorous and heartwarming team stories are entertaining.

Dear ...,
On (date), I will be walking (or volunteering) 128 miles through 28 cities and across the Golden Gate Bridge on a 12-member team during the largest event in the world promoting organ donation. During The Relay, known as California's Longest Party, passing the baton to my next team member will symbolize the transfer of an organ from donor to recipient. The 2005-2007 races were dedicated to three-year-old Katalina Thang who waited two years for the tiny donor to save her. On September 4, 2006, Katalina received a new heart and lungs.

Please discuss your personal wishes regarding organ donation with your family. This will allow loved ones to make an informed decision if you become a potential organ donor.
